THE NEWS BALANCE REPORT
ERIN Research was commissioned to undertake a comprehensive study of news on the CBC English Network and its major competitors. ERIN sampled 25 weeks of news on TV, Internet and Radio to compile the most detailed analysis on news ever undertaken in Canada.

THE COVERAGE OF FEDERAL ELECTIONS ON TV, RADIO AND THE INTERNET
ERIN Research has conducted six major studies of fairness and balance in the coverage of Federal Election Campaigns (1993, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2008) and fairness in the coverage of the Quebec Referendum (1995), on CBC television and radio networks.

NATIONAL SURVEY OF 5,200 YOUNG CANADIANS IN A WIRED WORLD
In 2005, ERIN Research conducted the Young Canadians in a Wired World survey (YCWW). This study was the most comprehensive and wide-ranging survey of Internet use among young people in Canada. ERIN looks at online behaviours, attitudes, and opinions of more than 5,200 children and youth from Grades 4 to 11, in both official languages. The findings document current trends and provide recommendations with respect to Internet use by Canadian youth, MNet, 2005.

USE OF MUSIC BY CANADIAN TELEVISION NETWORKS, RADIO AND THE INTERNET
ERIN Research has garnered a reputation for rigorous analysis of the music content on television networks, radio and the Internet. The analyses are used to establish a definitive basis for the payment of music royalties in Canada. ERIN has conducted numerous studies in this area from 1997 to 2009.

THE GLOBAL MEDIA MONITORING PROJECT
ERIN Research conducted the most comprehensive studies ever mounted on the portrayal of gender, diversity and social roles in mass media. The two ERIN studies involved 70 countries and every major continent of the globe. ERIN produced a report, Who Makes the News? and a manual, The Global Media Monitoring Guide.

SEX ROLE PORTRAYAL IN THE CANADIAN BROADCAST MEDIA
The Commission’s 1984 benchmark study of sex-role portrayal was designed and conducted by Erin Research. The scope of the project was uniquely comprehensive. It included programming and advertising on radio and on television in French and in English. It analyzed the portrayal of gender and diversity in news, current affairs and information, drama, variety and advertising. It included public and private broadcasters as well as pay television. ERIN was commissioned again to conduct the second seminal CRTC study in 1998.
